Cornerstone Society
FRAMING THE FUTURE – Have you thought about including Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady County in your will or estate plans? We would be honored for you to join our CORNERSTONE SOCIETY. When you make a Legacy gift to Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady County, Inc. you become an integral partner in our mission of building strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.
Dan Smith, our inaugural CORNERSTONE SOCIETY member, was passionate about helping others.
In 2004, after a 35 year career at General Electric Research and Development Center, Dan Smith retired and turned his attention to serving his community. Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady County, Inc. benefited greatly from his time, energy and enthusiasm.
Dan joined Habitat as a volunteer but quickly became a leader joining the Building Committee and serving as Site Selection Chairman and eventually the Board of Directors. Dan had a lot of “tools” and was never happier than when asked to bring and operate his tractor, backhoe or wood chipper to a build site! Always eager to help and get involved, Dan was the ultimate team player whether with friends and family, his GE colleagues or fellow volunteers at Habitat. He is greatly missed by so many but his legacy lives on in all the people whose lives he made better with his friendship.
